On Clark's Book on the Determinants of Social Status in England, 1600–2026

About this article

Abstract

In this commentary on Gregory Clark's To Have and Have Not: The Determinants of Social Status in England, 1600-2026, I explain how the book builds on Clark's two previous Hemingway-themed books, this time grabbing the third rail with both hands. My remarks are offered as an appreciation and brief introduction to Clark's outstanding work.
